"No new pics from this trip, I'm afraid. If you want pictures from a boys' tour, you have to send Gerry O'Beirne! Anyway, here's a picture taken in 2005 by Josh Lustig when the same team premiered the piece in the QEH, London.

Writing on Water at QEH

This trip to Bruges was Synergy's first tour with London Sinfonietta. We have another one planned for November, which is great. Alistair was so impressed by Bruges that he and Cath took their little boy there for his birthday (mainly because he wanted to go on Euroshuttle, but he liked going up the bell tower, and going on the canals).

Since 2005 David Lang has gone from strength to strength, winning the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for The Little Match Girl Passion, written for 4 voices + percussion (played by the singers). Congratulations, David! - and I hope we get a chance to do the piece with Synergy one of these days.

We were delighted to see both Jurjen Hempel and David Lang at the World Premiere of La Commedia in Amsterdam. They reported that the boys had done a great job in Bruges, which was most pleasing. Apparently, there are plans afoot to release our recording of Writing on Water on a CD with The Little Match Girl. Watch this space..."
