Simon Stockhausen was our sound engineer for this concert, and it was wonderful to be working with David Robertson again.
It’s always a real treat to work with the LSO, so we’d been looking forward to this project for a while.
After a 4.45am check-out of our Paris hotel, Jo and I flew back to Dresden via Düsseldorf with Ensemble Modern.
Following our “Tehillim” triumph in Dresden, Caroline and I flew to Paris via Munich.
This concert was the first of three in Dresden – “Tehillim”, “The Cave” and “Music for 18″ – all with different teams of singers.
We were really excited to be performing “The Cave” – the one remaining vocal piece of Steve Reich’s that we hadn’t sung to date.
Amy and Mandy both had throaty colds on this trip, so it was something of a relief to get through these two performances of Music for 18 without incident.

We didn’t quite know what to expect of a venue called “Tinning Plant”, so we set off to our rehearsal feeling somewhat intrigued.
