Great gig in Shanghai with CCG last night! Bigging up Caroline Jaya-Ratnam who sight-read Music for 18 Musicians piano 1 for the first rehearsal, and then played a bit of piano 4 in the concert (for poor Amanda Morrison who was suffering with sciatica). Bigging up Mandy for retrieving her lost voice for just long enough to get through the concert. Not forgetting Heather Cairncross who was her usual reliable marvellous self. And I'm also going to big myself up for taking the rehearsal with 2 new players (the excellent Daniel Pioro - violin, and Ausiàs Garrigós Morant - clarinet), and sorting out the (extremely challenging) front of house balance with the marvellous Ian Dearden whilst singing 2 voice parts on radio-mic from the stalls. Who was it who asked me if I ever got bored with Music for 18 Musicians...? 🤣 ... See MoreSee Less
