Re-igniting a 29 year collaboration with Ensemble Intercontemporain,
Synergy Vocals returns to Paris for a new production featuring
Steve Reich's Drumming
in celebration of Reich's 90th birthday
at the Théâtre du Châtelet.
Since its première in 1971, Reich's iconic Drumming has inspired
choreographers from all over the world, from Laura Dean in the 1970s
to Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker in the 1990s.
Synergy Vocals had the privilege of performing
Drumming Live over many, many years.
We are now thrilled to be a part of this new theatrical realisation
by FC Bergman, Point Nemo.
"Adapted, shaped and dictated by the music, the stage installation
gradually becomes the main character of the performance.
Point Nemo is a wandering through fragments of the inhabited world.
At once a sonic sensory and physical experience,
the production is a metaphor for existence, or an ode to letting go".
Technically challenging, the central set changes along the piece,
and its transformations mark the division of the show
into 4 parts – as in the music.
A musical abstraction exploring human existence,
this promises to be a fascinating new way of experiencing
Steve Reich's hypnotic masterpiece!
