Re-igniting a 29 year collaboration with Ensemble Intercontemporain,
Synergy Vocals returns to Paris for a new production featuring
Steve Reich's Drumming in celebration
of Reich's 90th birthday at the Théâtre du Châtelet.

Since its première in 1971, Reich's iconic Drumming has inspired
choreographers from all over the world, from Laura Dean in the 1970s
to Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker in the 1990s, with whom Synergy Vocals had the privilege
of performing Drumming Live over many, many years.

We are now thrilled to be a part of this new theatrical realisation
by FC Bergman, Point Nemo.

"Adapted, shaped and dictated by the music, the stage installation
gradually becomes the main character of the performance.
Point Nemo is a wandering through fragments of the inhabited world.
At once a sonic sensory and physical experience,
the production is a metaphor  for existence, or an ode to letting go".
Technically challenging, the central set changes along the piece,
and its transformations mark the division of the show
into 4 parts – as in the music.
A musical abstraction exploring human existence,
this promises to be a fascinating new way of experiencing
Steve Reich's hypnotic masterpiece!

Director of Synergy Vocals, Micaela Haslam, joins an exclusive gathering
of Steve Reich's closest associates for a new Music for 18 Musicians production
at The Armory in New York, including members of the original
Steve Reich & Musicians, and Steve Reich himself.
A week of performances, staged by conductor Alan Pierson, will feature Alarm Will
Sound along with musicians from the Manhattan School of Music.
This invitation to Steve Reich’s 90th birthday celebration in his home city is in recognition
of the work Micaela and Synergy Vocals continue to do as
ambassadors of Reich's vocal music.

Micaela coaches Ensamble Perceum/Nonsense/Steve Reich

“Micaela Haslam is the great singer who runs Synergy Vocals.
She has coached groups before I get there (when I’m sitting in), and she’s coached
groups when I’m not involved at all. You would do well to invite her to work with you.
She will clarify everything about the piece.”
